Hamilton Heritage Walk (Newcastle Herald, November 27, 2021)
Hamilton celebrated its 150th birthday on December 11, 2021, and a heritage walk created by Heritage Now with sponsorship from the City of Newcastle was launched in November 2021. Including a number of landmarks such as the Exchange Hotel, Gow and Co, Donald's Corner, Kent Hotel and the Gregson Park canons, the walk was designed to take people on "a journey through the 19th century settlement of immigrant coal miners". The walking trail runs for 3.2 km and is estimated to take 40 to 120 minutes to complete, with each stop containing audio recordings and a brief historical summary about the landmark.

Hamilton History (Newcastle Herald, December 11, 2021)
Ruth Cotton, a Hamilton historian, moved to the suburb in 2012 and has been researching the area for years. With a popular Facebook page and blog, Ruth went on to publish the books 'Hidden Hamilton' in 2014, and 'More Hidden Hamilton' in 2016. Instrumental in the placement of 22 plaques on historical buildings in Hamilton, Ruth also created a heritage walk brochure for the suburb. The Heritage Now digital heritage walks include the Hamilton Fire Station (Ruth's favourite building). The digital walk will be officially launched by Councillor Carol Duncan as part of the 150th Hamilton anniversary celebrations, and will be followed by a 20 minute guided tour.
